The disadvantages and advantages of being who I am...

My name is Stephen Que and I am an Asian-American. Many say Asians are the most successful raise and are usually wealthy compared to all the other different raises. they are viewed that way because of the past history of Asians in America. Most of them own businesses that become very successful. According to my past experiences being Asian is not as easy as it looks. Being a basketball player in high school I was not taken very seriously only being a 5'10 guard. Because there are rarely any Asians  that play the game of basketball I was not considered to be a great player at first sight. When it comes to sports or being the "cool" kid i was not really viewed as that type of guy. I was also made fun of in high school my freshman and sophomore years for being Asian. I remember being on the football team my freshman year and some of the guys would make fun of saying that I should stay in the classroom instead of on the football practice field. My parents would also nag me on doing my homework and studying all the time, which is very typical among Asian kids. So it's not really that easy being an Asian kid growing up in America. It can be easy at time though because usually all my teachers love me and they always give me the benefit of the doubt when it come to grades. My family can also benefit me because even though  they are so hard on me it can definitely help me out in the long run.          

Mira Costa Community College through a sociological point of view

Mira Costa is a giant school with many students that attend it. It is also a very diverse school with people who are from out of the country come to attend. There are all different types of raises at Mira Costa, but none seem to interact with each other. There are only a elected few who are very social throughout the whole environment at Mira Costa but most are not. Why is this so? I believe that the main reason why the abundant amount of students that attend Mira Costa don't interact with each other is because there are not enough social activities where individuals can bond with one another. Also, there are so many young adults who have other extracurricular activities such as jobs, sports or any other involvements. Therefore, there is not enough time to socialize with their environments. Most of the students including myself just go to school to get the classes done and do whatever you have to do after. I personally think it is a waste of time to stick around Mira Costa because  there is really no events that they throw out there for students. I actually believe that Mira Costa seems to be like an extended high school.      

Winning in the NBA

Iv'e always wondered how do teams win championships in the NBA? Most critics say that the key to winning an NBA championship is to play relentless defense. But the era of basketball has transformed into a slow physical style of game to a high tempo style of game with all the different athletes today's NBA has to offer. The past teams that have won the NBA championship are teams who play great defense such as the Los Angeles Lakers with their great front line and Kobe/Artest who are great perimeter defenders. The spurs are another team who has won recent championships and they also take pride in their defense because thats what coach pop emphasizes. Along with Tim Duncan to anchor that D. The Boston Celtics are another team who has had recent success and they also rank among the best in their defensive statistics. It has been proven that the "run and gun" teams such as the Phoenix Suns or the Golden State Warriors always fail to win the NBA championship. Is the statement defense wins championships true? I believe so. even the Miami Heat with D wade and Lebron admit that they can't with the championship with just offense. their main focus is on the defensive end of the floor. They will try and use their athleticism and speed to fuel that defense. As of right now I believe the Chicago Bulls will win the championship because they have the best overall team defense out of the remaining four teams. and they have Derrick Rose who is a beast.      

Breaching Expiriment

My breaching experiment was really weird. I went to the gym in pants and a dress up shirt. It's funny because nobody wears those types of clothes at the gym. it is so typical for everyone who goes to the gym to wear a pair of shorts, and a workout shirt or something. when i arrived at the gym I looked like one of those employers who worked there. But it was when I started to lift weights and play basketball is when everyone started to look at me funny and view me differently. Why did they start to view me differently because everyone already has an adapted way of viewing people at the gym with their gym clothes on. It's not typical in society to where clothes that you wear to take a girlfriend out or on a date to where to the gym. Wearing gym clothes to the gym is what everyone is accustomed to wearing. I can admit is was kind of embarrassing having everyone look at you differently, but I managed to get through it because I had to do some sort breaching experiment done. This was definitely a great experience for me because i have never done anything so unusual in my life. I would  recommend doing this with family or friends because not only is it super fun, but it provides entertainment for everyone in the environment.            

Gender

What makes a man? Is it who I biologically am or is it who I plan on becoming. there can be many debates about this topic, but I believe that I am a man for who I am trying to be not for who I already am....does that make any sense? I believe that male and females have distinct things they do according to what they do or how they do things. For example men like to play sports and be all tough. Women like to be feminine and sweet. So both genders take on different roles in society. If a female takes on activities that men do or acts like a guy she is considered a "tomboy". If a male takes on things that females like to do, they are considered as soft or gay. People should not be judged for how they act or how they present themselves, but they should be judged on how they want to be. For example, if there is a guy who wants to be gay then he should be gay. so basically, what makes people who they are.....are the things they want to be. i believe that I am a man for what i am trying to do. I am trying to have a wife and have a successful business career. I am trying to go to the gym and get strong like men do. The actions that an individual do in their lives supports the fact that they are either female or male.
